Orkut has strike back with new Feature list. It has new looks, fewer pages, clean interface and faster access since its powered by Google’s own Web ToolKit.
Its been quite a sometime that Orkut was losing its social network market b’coz of facebook and twitter. According to the orkut blog they where in a process of renewing orkut based on the user feedback. Orkut is rebuilt from the scratch using the Google Web Toolkit [GWT].
Its has fewer pages, more features, faster browsing and its net and clean interface. Currently they are rolling out this feature to only few members who are joining there neworkut official community. You can also observe the change in the community’s homepage itself. its a moderated community so it might take some time to get the approval.
Orkut is now more personalized, its also integrated with new Google video chat features. This change made in Orkut is clearly a competition for the Facebook.
Question comes in my mind is it integrated with google wave ?? it was said during the Google I/O 2009 that, their is a possibility of Google wave and Orkut integration. Will have to check out once we get the access. Since techgearz is yet to get the access, we will leave you with some screenshots from the orkut blog. They are just trying to copy Facebook. No big deal. The new orkut is faster than the previous one. They will soon be giving custom url for profile just like facebook.
