Last week facebook launched subscribe button and Grouping feature like G+ circles and shut mouth of all those Googlers who where telling facebook’s security features are week. Subscribe may also take the market shares of twitter where people follow public tweets of popular celebrities and techies. It seems that facebook has taken the competition serious and these quick fixes are part of this.

This time its Apples turn it seems. We have also seen that Apple has release iOS 5 which is deeply integrated with twitter API’s. It seems that this decision of keep The Social Network (a.k.a Facebook) away from apple core hurt someone.

Now the rumor surrounding facebook is that they are working on a secret project called Project Spartan. Project spartan is facebooks app store platform which will feature all the popular facebook apps and games for mobile users and they can enjoy it on iPhone and android devices and these will contain apps which may not be available on iTunes or Android Market.

Now what does that mean? Facebook is developing a new HTML 5 and Javascript based UI framework called BoltJS which is targeting Wedkit based browsers for now ( iOS and Android browsers). Rumor states that facebook will re-wite their facebook app in android and iOS with this new platform which will also have a new app-store feature. This app store will contain mobile apps like games and other popular facebook apps. It is also said that many popular facebook apps and games have been started rewriting process to fit in this new platform, also the latest release of Facebook for iOS is a test of BoltJS.

It would also be a heart breaker for apples iCloud service, with Facebook App-store you can have a common app-store for both Android and iPhones and also the apps would be on facebook cloud and you don’t have to worry about loosing them when your mobile crashes. [ only time will say, if we can run those apps offline too.. HTML 5 can do that too ]

Also this framework would be an open source, so people can use it to design their own mobile apps and integrate with FB easily .

On clicking try now button it started showing me a list of friends who are online with a green dot like we had before on the chat-box. It gave me an option to directly message them if they are not online. Well by default if no friends are online it will show you the friends with whom you do more conversation based on some algorithm.

Facebook is making a lot of changes in its design these days, are they more cautious with their design now ? since Google is coping it for plus  or it was a part of the plan, never mind.

Well I liked it, this new fixed friend list feature allows you to see all your online friends any time, even when your are on any other Facebook page or profile. Previously you had to click on the chat window to right side of the page, which would open up a irritating menu with your online friend list. Here you can type and search for your friends too.

Today twitter got a fresh new look for its login page. It is simple and clean, It is more like facebook first page. This Page has login form at the top and new user registration form to the right, followed by twitters top user pics at bottom, which i think is random and dynamic. Over all the new look was attractive and impressive.

To be frank, i am not so impressed by the twitters new user interface for viewing tweets, it need a change too. I hope twitter has already plans for it, lets watch out how twitter goes on it.

MySpace CEO, Mike Jones in an online interview said that its parent company News Corp is planning for a sale or merger of MySpace.  Last year MySpace acquired iMeem to become the large Music sharing Social network, but it seems they could not stand aside of words largest social network Facebook.

According to reports, MySpace has already cut down its resource by 47% i.e around 500 employees where asked to leave MySpace, so that it could continue MySpace with the limited funding that they have today.  Reports also say MySpace is showing a good response after the new design changes that they had last year.

It is also in NEWS that  discussions are going on of sale or merger of MySpace. They are still a private discussion topic at News Corp, but two majors Social Network who could get into this deal and have some advantages too. Google and Facebook.

MySpace has the largest Music database and artist list and it was always the first choice for any budding star for promote his music, until Facebook Pages took on the Popularity. Facebook Page has emerged widely and people are getting used to Facebook Pages for promotion and staying in touch with their fans. Facebooks API and FBML also helped artist to customize facebook pages to their need.

Why MySpace would be a good deal for Google?

Google is looking out for a new edge in Social Network. Its own social network project Orkut and Google Buzz failed very badly in recent years. Google was rumered to come with a new social network Google Me, but it seems they are looking out for an opportunity.

Acquiring MySpace would help Google to directly get into a competition with their so called rival Facebook. MySpace has a large user base and huge music artist base. Google can combine the power of YouTube, MySpace and Orkut to make a fresh entry into Social Network.

Why Facebook should go for MySpace ?

Their is no need for Facebook to go for MySpace. It is already a leader in Social Network. But still Facebook could definitely get advantage from MySpace.

Facebook who is already Popular with Facebook Page, could use MySpace Music base and its own user base for getting into music industry. A high revenue generating market which is now lead by Apple iTunes.

Facebook can also put a full-stop to Googles ambition of  leading Social Networking space. Facebook has already made big plans for this, last year they have hired all the top engineers of Google and also announced their entry into the messaging service with FB mail. They have also spend a lot of efforts in improving their chat experience.

It would be interesting to know what would be the future of MySpace once a top Social Network. Coming days we could see a lot of news regarding this topic and what would be the best deal for MySpace to continue on.

Few months back we had seen some  Chinese devices in market powered by android claiming to be iPAD killer.  It was in news all over the internet and tech-blogs. It was also very much expected that some big mobile companies would officially come up with a iPAD alternative which is worth a buy. HP and Dell also came up with some cool tabloid concept which is yet to be released in market. Well Samsung seem to be the first official competitor for iPAD with Android 2.2 (Froyo) powered Samsung Galaxy Tab .

Its similar to Facebook’s “Mutual Friends” section. This will help you in judging whom to follow on twitter. Last week we also saw twitter rolled out “Who to follow”, which is similar to another Facebook feature, People You May Know. Well so the question asked in the previous post is still valid here, “Is Twitter going Facebook Way.”

Many Facebook and Twitter users would be having the same query in mind. But its too early to say, we need to wait and watch what unique feature does twitter come up with. “You both Follow” is not yet available in Twitter API format, so for time being its available only on twitter and cannot be seen in any other 3rd party applications

Data charge will be applicable only if user want to view images / photos from the users album.

In India this plan is available with Airtel, Reliance and Videocon subscribers. If you are a Airtel, Reliance or Videocon user you can browse facebook fro free from you mobile phone using 0.facebook.com.

Well the bad news is other mobile subscribers like Vodafone, Tata and Idea will have to wait for it.
