Code.org is a non-profit foundation dedicated to growing computer programming education. According to code.org their is a shortage of computer programmers worldwide in comparison to industry need. They appeal, people should start learning programming, because programming is more easy than thinking. They are building an authoritative database of all programming schools, whether they are online courses, brick+mortar schools or summer camps.

I am sure code.org is doing a great job of inspiring more people to enroll in computer programming.

Facebook is now directly competing with its so called arch-rival Google in search business (in which Google is so far the best…) by integrating Microsoft BING!! search in depth to Facebook platform… eeh…

I hope Bing return some relevant results

but jokes apart… Facebook also seem to have work hard on this. They have tried to make the search more personalized and social. Facebook new search would be searching not just based on your interest but also take your friends in to consideration. For Example If your search for a movie it would also recommend you movies your friends watch or like recently too.

For past few week i have been noticing some post on my feeds which i have never subscribed to,and this was not very frequently. Then couple of days back i realised a sponsored post by Dell on my wall, i never subscribe to dell page. Well this is new Facebook ad network one like promoted tweets on twitter ( look on the fb mobile pic above) .

Well this is not just the only way Facebook is making sponsored post appear on your timeline their is one more, which it does with help of your friends. Now suppose a company is subscribed to Facebook ad network and one of your friend hit like on their page, this event would appear on your timeline along with a sponsored ad related to that page. It might appear to you that this link/ post was shared by your friend … well you did not noticed that your friend has only like the page, the post was a sponsored post by Facebook and you click on it thinking it was shared by your friend. [they made you click the ad]

Since this sponsored ads are not very frequent on mobile app, I think facebook is testing its mobile ad network. They are following the twitter way, promoting post in your timeline. Early this month in a chat show @ Techcrunch Mark Zuckerberg did say that Facebook has a great potention in mobile ad market since most of its users are mobile phone users.

This might be a good news for Facebook share holders, finally Facebook would be earning more from their mobile platform. But as i said Facebook seem to be still in testing mode and I hope that this sponsored ads wont be very frequent one and i wont miss any post from my friends.

Their are plenty of instagram 3rd party web apps available on internet, but I am sure many off you are waiting for an official Instagram web app to launch. Recently i have started using an official chrome extension by instagram.

This extension does not allow you to post any new photos on instagram, but you can view your profile and follow feed while you are on desktop. You can also Comment / Like and Share those pics.

 

 

 

You can also manage your profile using this chrome extension. You would notice that this chrome extension is very much similar to the mobile phone app they have, only difference is you cannot use it for uploading pics. Their is a pop-out option in the menu, which would allow you to open this extension in a separate chrome window.

Well this app also brought me to a conclusion that instagram is making HTML5 web app for their mobile web users, which would soon be launched and may be we can also have a new desktop app from instagram in coming days. Facebook is really taking instagram to a next level.

On the Apples iPhone 5 launch event that happen on 12th September if their was something that was interesting and surprising then it would be the launch of new iPod Nano and iPod touch launch and i would say it has stole the whole attention of the new iPhone 5. I personally lover the stuff.

That’s not all as far as Indian fans are concerned, Apple has always been bias with a late launch of iPhone and other Apple products in India, but according to Apples official website for India region apple.com/in, iPod touch and nano is coming to India soon probably the same time when rest of the world would get it.

iPod touch has got a cool new look, a 4 inch retina display more like the new iPhone 5 but its is much much thinner and light around 88 gm. It has a 5 mp rear camera and a 1.3 mpx front camera with wifi. Bluetooth 4.0 is an additional feature which many might have not expected.

The 5 mp iSight rear camera has 1080p HD video recording capabilities, LED flash light. It would also carry the new Apple head phone and the latest Lightning USB cable.

iPod Touch and nano comes is some cool vibrant colors, coincidentally it has the same colors which you would find for the new Nokia Lumia series. It also has iPod Touch has a loop wrist band matching the color of the iPod.

• Video playback time: Up to 8 hours when fully charged
• Charging times: Fast charge in about 2 hours (80% capacity), full charge in about 4 hours

iPod Nano too got some cool new upgrades, from square it has grown rectangle again, this time with a 2.5 inch full touch display.

It has video playback capability and FM built in, over the device look decent.

• Charging via USB to computer system or power adapter(sold separately)

But i would never understand, why day reduced its size and again increase its size and gave a full touch interface while you have iPod touch for that.

This new iPod nano would be packed with the new Apple earPods. Also they too come in some vibrant color similar to the iPod Touch.

Both iPod touch and nano has the Nike+ application. It help you to compare your daily sports activity and compare it for better improvement.

These devices would be available in India and rest of the world by end of this month probably by 21st Sept.

World was waiting for this day when Apple was about to launch its new iPhone, which is also called iPhone 5. I had a fear, now they would stop numbering it and call it just an iPhone but they didn’t do that.

But, apart from this most things we as expected, including the design of the phone. It is the same iPhone prototype which was leaked around few months now. Whole internet was hoping this is not that iPhone, but this was it. A disappointment around the internet.

Over all i would say iPhone 5 is a great improvement over iPhone 4S and Apple did everything that would help it to technically compete with all its beloved competitors specially Samsung whose Galaxy brand is eating iPhone shares for the same reason.

It has a 4′ inch 16:9 HD display, though it is long they have not increase the width of the phone so users would not have issue in cross navigating the phone with a thumb.

It is 18% lighter i.e 112 gm than the current iPhone 4S and has a 20 % more clear color retina display, also 22% more power saving battery, thanks to the new A6 chip which is designed by apple. It has the new iOS 6 with much smarter siri, who can now book a table for you in a nearest hotel for your dinner. Smart!!

The new iPhone 5 is powered by LTE, which is 10 times faster than your wifi connection, the back plate of the iPhone 5 is made of the new liquid metal, which make it strong and light weight at the same… hope we see this soon on iPad and the Macbook’s too.

Something that was most interesting in the event was the new ear phone from Apple, this is something different. Apple says its took 3 year for them to rethink a design like this.

Apple is expected to launch new iPhone 5 and probably iPad Mini a 7 inch tablet to the world today US time 10 am,( few more hours to go).

But according to a french site  http://www.nowhereelse.fr photo of iPad mini is leaked a day before the launch. This looks exactly same like iPad 3 but a mini version and looks like it had a wide HD screen too.

iPad Mini would be competing directly with Nexus 7 and Amazon kindle HD.

Ivy bridge 3rd generation Intel processors is yet to take the market coming months with ultrabook, Intel’s today on IDF 2012  exposed its 4th generation processor called Haswell.

Haswell has 2x times faster GPU that Ivy bridge,i.e much better graphics and 20x times more battery efficient compared to Sandy bridge when your laptop is in idle mode. It would be coming with dual and quad core capability. According to Ultrabooknews.com it also has high video encoding/decoding capability built into the hardware of the chip-set itself.

Well definitely this would make the Ultrabook’s and windows 8 powered tablet more efficient and powerful. Not to forget Apple Macbook pro and Air is also part of this flagship, we can expect some more exiting Macbook Air and Pro’s incoming days … keep reading till then.

Last year we have share an interesting artcile about Mozilla making an HTML 5 based Mobile OS called Boot to Geko, early this week mozilla renamed to project after its popular browser Firefox and it would be called Firefox OS.

Well that is not all, they are not partnered with Spanish company Telefonica and Qualcomm to make the first mobile phone to be powered by Firefox OS. and we have an exclusive pic of the same from Telefonica press room (fig1).
