Last 3 months seems too be like a browser war season. First it was Firefox 3.5 then Google announce the Chrome OS initiative , news of Firefox planning for 4.0, then Opera 10 with turbo speed, first Cloud OS in picture by gOS and Now its Google Chrome OS 3.0.

Google Chrome 3.0 is here to makeup with many of the common features which others browser had for years like themes specially apart from performance. (as far as normal users are concern).

New Chrome has a fast web page and javascript loading capability, well yes it loads all the Google web apps faster for sure.

This version of a chrome also has a new improved speed dial section, this is more organized and can a particular speed dial any time, unlike the older one. Also chrome 3.0 allows to reshuffle the speed dials just by dragging.

Chrome Speed dial

Most of the features seems to be old in the Google’s demo video, the major change in this version seems to be the performance improvement and the themes.

Themes

If we talk of the themes, to be very frank except few… i dint like any of them, they are either over done or not done … Firefox themes and personas are more mature comparatively hope soon we can see many exiting themes and features coming in to the chrome.

OR may be google has kept the good features to the so called Coming Soon “Chrome OS”.

Well it was the time when android development was booming and gPhone was in picture. Following the link i came to the so called gOS.. amazing… is it Google’s first operating system… wow its something like Mac. But the story was something different.

It was not Google OS thought it was called gOS… but yes it has something to do with google for sure.

Its called “good OS” and an OS which is powered by Google apps with shortcut to many of them on desktop like gmail, gmaps, blogspot, youtube, google widgets and many more. Released somewhere in December 2008. It was an operating system which was full of web apps and widgets starting form the desktop.. and interface was very much similar to Apple’s MAC OSx.

gOS's MAC like jumping menu.

gOS is nothing but another flavor of Linux powered by Google apps. While browsing through the system i noticed that most of the apps running in here was internet based and giving error since i was not connected to internet.

skype

It also had skype and Open office reinstalled in it (you can see in the above pics), it also had many other Linux based apps like Gimp, etc.

Thought gOS openly says it not Google’s property, but yes Google has contributed a lot in this project for sure.

It was also the first place where I came across the most happening term in the todays internet called Cloud Computing and Cloud OS.

Cloud Computing – (in a layman term) Cloud Computing is a concept, according to which soon all softwares will be available as a service and company need not have to invest on the softwares, licenses and pay for those heavy bulky server hardwares to run those softwares. They just have to buy a service. ( IBM, Google, Adobe are few known IT’s already in a state of implementing this.)

Cloud OS - it would be the OS which will be used to access these services provided using cloud computing. An OS which has only a browser to run.

Though gOS doesn’t seem to be much promoted and the reason would be their upcoming version Cloud OS. The Cloud OS will be a Linux bases OS powered by a browser similar to Google Chrome OS which is suppose to be powered by Google’s Chrome Browser. This Cloud OS is designed specifically for the netbook series. gOS would be probably come in market along with Gigabyte M912 netbook series. Anyways we will be exploring more on the Cloud OS in upcoming articles.

Check out some screen shots of gOS

Opera 10 released, its called Turbo and really its gone to its name. Awesome !! with turbo performance.

I tried to open the Techgearz site on it, opened in less than a second where as the same site took around 1+ sec in firefox (same network). This one can give a tough fight to Firefox and Chrome. Well as per opera, Turbo is 9 times faster thank its counter-parts.

I am not sure about that figure, but i have to say it loads the page faster compared to the others. It also has a custom speed dial window which can accommodate maximum 5×5 sites on a screen.

Speed dial is the area where you can store the recently visited sites and helps you easy loading the site whenever you feel like accessing it.

As per the latest press release by the company it had record 10 million downloads of the new Opera.

It also comes with some cool widgets to, i just tried with the twitter widget, it pretty cool. It has a right pane for storing the widgets and you can easily access it from there.

With Turb Browser war is getting tougher, these browsers are so metured that now its all about speed now.

I am waiting for Google and Firefox response to this, by end of this year you can expect the new Firefox 4.0 and by early next year Chrome OS will also be released (my one time fav Microsoft IE seems to be no where in this picture ). Well chrome OS is already out of world, will opera ever come with something like that .. lets wait and watch.

After a long wait Mozilla released the lastest and the most awaiten FireFox 3.5

This version is asumed to be 3 times faster in terms if page loading …

These are some of the eye candys that u have in 3.5

Smaller Memory Footprint >> Short and sweet, Firefox uses less of your computer’s memory while it’s running.

Faster Page Load >> A redesigned page rendering and layout engine means you see Web pages faster—and in the way they were meant to be seen.

Memory Management >> With a new management function in place, Firefox keeps memory usage under control. The XPCOM cycle collector continuously cleans up unused memory. Plus, hundreds of memory leaks have been remedied.

Color Profile Support >> improved The colors in your online photo albums will be sharper and more brilliant than ever, thanks to improvements to our graphics engine.

Super Speed >> new Fasten your seatbelt: Firefox 3.5 includes the TraceMonkey JavaScript engine, which gives the browser dramatically better performance than ever before. Firefox has always been fast, but this is the fastest Firefox ever (more than twice as fast as Firefox 3, and ten times as fast as Firefox 2), meaning Web applications like email, photo sites, online word processors and more will feel snappier and more responsive.

Tags >> improved Label a site with names or categories that are meaningful to you. For example, you can label the site www.bbc.co.uk with the “news” tag as well as the “foreign investments” tag, plus give www.nytimes.com the “news” tag, too. When you enter “news” into the location bar, both sites will be shown as results. A single site can have multiple tags, and there’s no limit to the number of tags you can create. You may not remember the exact name of a site, but with a tag, you’ll be able to find it in a way that makes sense to you.

One-Click Bookmarking >> Manage your bookmarks a lot or a little. One click on the star icon at the end of the location bar bookmarks a site. Two clicks and you can choose where to save it and whether to tag it. File bookmarked sites in easy-to-access folders and organize according to theme (like “job search” or “favorite shopping”). Find your bookmarked sites in a flash by entering the tag, page or bookmark name into the location bar. The more you use your tags and bookmark names in the location bar, the more the system will adapt to your preferences.

RSS Feed Reader >>You can read feeds using an online Web service, a client-side feed reader or by creating a Firefox Live Bookmark. So there’s no need to comb the Web for the latest news and updates. See the latest headlines in the toolbar or menu and go directly to the articles that catch your eye.

Improved Text Rendering >> Read your language as it’s written—more like real life. With a new graphics engine, Arabic, Persian, Punjabi and other script languages now render in a remarkably seamless way.

Downloadable Fonts >> new View a wider variety of fonts on Web sites while you surf.

So wats u waiting for >>> go for it
