It was little difficult to connect internet via GPRS for all those N97 pre-installed and downloaded apps ( like Ovi Store, Opera Mini etc. ) which require internet. I have downloaded GPRS setting for Vodafone Live ! but still it was giving connection problem for apps. Only N97 browser get connected to Vodafone live! but apps where unable to connect.

Soon I found that all those apps where connecting through a default “Internet Access Point” and not Vodafone Live! Access point. For connecting to Internet Access Point you need to subscribe and configure “Vodafone Mobile Connection”.

In Nokia by default all apps try to connect via “Internet Access Point”. So you just need to make you Vodafone Live! access point as default access point. Next time when app try to connect to internet, it will rout through Vodafone Live! access point.

Happy Browsing !!

This week we can see a part by part review on Nokia’s new N97 Phone @TechGearz, just arrived from WOMWorld Nokia. Thanks to the team @ WOMWorld /Nokia for giving this handset and to have clear view on whats Nokia upto with all those new gadgets and gearz in market.

N97 is in market for quite sometime now, but its popularity is increasing with the social networks and internet market taking a leap. N97 is truly a WOW phone with all those internet and social tools. You can easily find live updates from all you social networks on your home screen with few configuration.

Its a touch screen phone with high quality QWERTY key board and a HD wide screen 5mpx camera. It has 32 GB in-built memory and also support for external micor SD card. Its also powered by new Ovi tools and Ovi map software from Nokia.

Something i liked the most is N97 QWERTY keyboard, easy to type and quick access to internet. Till now i found it a great gadget for internet and social networking geeks. We would be having more details and important features review in the coming articles. Don’t miss it @TechGearz.

Nokia has its latest smartphone experiment out in the form of the Maemo powered N900. its an experiment as Nokia is still promoting N97 over this wonderful gadget. Certainly N900 is the best smartphone that Nokia has produced till date and no matter what comparisons say, the N900 comes real close to beating the iPhone 3GS, in some ways it does. The same old issue with the Nokia is the weight and the usability. iPhone scores there.

Most impressing part of N900 is 600 MHz ARM Processor with 256 Mb ram and aprox 1 GB virtual memory with the OS named Maemo which is basically a linux based tabloid OS designed using various opensource projects.

The built-in 32 GB storage is big enough to store up to 7,000 of your favorite songs or 40 hours of DVD-quality video. And with an external microSD card you can expand the storage to up to 48 GB

With Nokia N900 you can experience the high speed brodband connection at home. Enjoy rich interactive content across the web and view pages the way they should be seen with stunning full-screen browsing.

It has a powerful 5-mpx LED camera and GPS system actived on it.

Only the time will speak whether this would give a tough fight to the iPhone series.

What is Maemo exactly ??

Maemo is a software platform that is mostly based on open source code and powers mobile devices such as the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet. Maemo platform has been developed by Nokia in collaboration with many open source projects such as the Linux kernel , Debian , GNOME , and many more.

In coming articles we will try to explore more on maemo and its features and in which mobile will be developed for maemo.
