As you all know that, Plus Google’s new social network is all over internet and news for couple of weeks now and every one is trying hard to get an invite to use it.

Google has learned a lot from their past experience and  this time made a product keeping a normal internet user in mind and not for the geeky developer. But that doesnt mean they forgot about developers… today Facebook and Twitter is more popular due to their Open social API’s which is allowing every single internet site to connect to Facebook or Twitter to share contents and may more.

Today twitter got a fresh new look for its login page. It is simple and clean, It is more like facebook first page. This Page has login form at the top and new user registration form to the right, followed by twitters top user pics at bottom, which i think is random and dynamic. Over all the new look was attractive and impressive.

To be frank, i am not so impressed by the twitters new user interface for viewing tweets, it need a change too. I hope twitter has already plans for it, lets watch out how twitter goes on it.

Its similar to Facebook’s “Mutual Friends” section. This will help you in judging whom to follow on twitter. Last week we also saw twitter rolled out “Who to follow”, which is similar to another Facebook feature, People You May Know. Well so the question asked in the previous post is still valid here, “Is Twitter going Facebook Way.”

Many Facebook and Twitter users would be having the same query in mind. But its too early to say, we need to wait and watch what unique feature does twitter come up with. “You both Follow” is not yet available in Twitter API format, so for time being its available only on twitter and cannot be seen in any other 3rd party applications

Prior to Tweet Button, company like TweetMeMe and ReTweet.com use to provide this feature. According to twitter blog TweetMeMe would be helping twitter in developing and resolving issues related to Tweet Button.

This button also shows the count of tweets has been made for the link and also recommend you the people who are associated to that post /link and you could follow them.

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve entered into an agreement with Atebits (aka Loren Brichter) to acquire Tweetie, a leading iPhone Twitter client. – By Evan Williams, CEO Twitter.

Twitter always had a special consideration for the mobile section. Its 140 character limit is also a reason for the same, people could easily post to twitter by sending SMS. We have also seen in the recent months how, twitters mobile version of web has transformed in terms of features and looks, which clearly indicated the Twitters grwoing interest towards mobile market.

Following this strategy, Twitter CEO Evan Willams has officialy announced  they are going to accquire Atebits - iPhone App Tweetie and it would be officaly called as “Twitter for iPhone”. This offcial announcement was made on Twitter blog. It also said that Tweeties founder Loren Brichter would be joining Twitter team and will be working on Tweetie for iPad.

Tweetie is a very populate iPhone App, it have also won an awards for 2009 Best Apple Design Award. Its currently available in iTunes app Store for $ 2.99, Twitter has also announced that they will make this app free on iTune Stores, everyone can download it now for free.

Well a iPhone app was expected from twitter, but it would be an acquisition of Tweetie no would have expected. Perhaps this could be  first Acquisition from Twitter, this shows how fast twitter is growing and they may also join the Acquisition league soon.

Last year end we have seen lots of happening from Google, with either chrome OS demo, Google Wave or its first Android Phone Nexus One. But none of this really worked out for them. We have also saw Google’s frustration on twitter & facebook who are now leading social network market resulting in Orkut make over which neither worked out for them.

But, Google  is kick starting its new inning for 2010 with Google Buzz. Initial survey of Buzz gives an idea that its going to have a good time on social networking space and twitter and facebook will have to watch out for its market, their are many reason for this and it was something expected from Google for quite sometime.

Buzz integrated with Gmail which allow all Gmail users to chat, send mail through gmail while they are buzzing their new status or updates to the their followers. It also allow users to send public and private updates. And these updates will be seen on users Buzz time-lines inside Gmail and public Google profile also. Also you can buzz from iPhone and any mobile devices just as quick as you tweet.

You can also link your blogs, micro-blogs, Picassa, Flickr with buzz and Buzz will automatically show its latest update on your blog / micro-blogs in to your Google Buzz space.

Square, is a mobile phone based credit card payment system designed by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey and team. A private beta of the same is launched on 1st Dec 2009. (check the official website here)

Its the era of plastic cards, people prefer carrying credit cards with them and not cash and as you know many big-shops do have credit card swipe machines for transaction. But what about you local coffee shop or grocery stores, who don’t have a Credit card processing system or if you want to sell something to a someone. These Credit Card processing service comes costly and its not possible for everybody have one. Square is useful in such cases and making credit card payment more simple and easy.

Square, is a small gadget which can fit in to audio-jack of many mobile phone and you can use mobile to make a credit card payment. Their is no hidden cost associated with such payments, only you have a small maintenance fee associated with square-device (which would be very minimal). Once the payment is done successfully you will also get a electronic bill for your payment by mail or SMS.

Square is now available for iPhone. It has many features like validating user account and submitting digital signature during transaction and so on. (check the below slide show)

Square is also associated with a cause. A penny from every transaction you do through square will be donated to a cause of your choice.

Day before yesterday on techgearz we have mentioned that [reffer this] twitter will be under going a maintenance fix and their is a possibility of rolling out retweet feature. This was a perfect guess and yes now retweet feature is available on twitter officially, though its a beta stage now.

Since it say its a beta version and available to few selected people only. We really don’t know what is twitter criteria of selective people, but for those who don’t have this feature enabled yet they will see the retweets from their friend with a ” RT ” in the tweet and the people for whom it is enabled will see the Retweets with as in the bellow image. If the original owner of the tweet is not in your friend list then it will show a magic box which says “Wondering who is this?”

You will find this Retweet link next to Reply link in all your tweets, when you retweet a tweet your followers will see those tweets. This will also help your followers to follow the original tweeple if like to do so. See image for a red box ><

This Retweet feature does not allow you to edit / add any comments on any tweet before retweeting it, for that u will have to follow the traditional retweet method [Ctrl + C; Ctrl + V + edit it ]

Twitter also allow you monitor all the recent retweets along with the user details and you can also retweet it. You can also manage your retweets and your tweet which are retweeted by your friends / follower.  Owner of the tweet will be person who tweeted it first. [check below image, how it looks like.]

I have noticed on twitter that many people didn’t like retweet, probably they where expecting something better and also it doesn’t allow you to edit / add comment in any tweet before retweeting like you can do on other twitter apps.

But yes it will allow you to keep a track on retweets made by you and who all have retweeted your tweets and this was something that i like about retweet. Do let us know your comment on this new twitter feature on techgearz. Post in your comments.

Today morning twitter started showing alert which states that “Twitter will have a maintenance window on Nov. 17th at 11p Pacific“. i.e on 18th Nov 12.30 pm (IST) twitter will go for a maintenance release.

So Tomorrow 12.30 pm IST [afternoon]  Indian twitter users might face some issues accessing there account.

Few weeks back on Techgearz Facebook page we also saw about twitter rolling out the “retweet” feature soon. We will have to wait and watch whether this maintenence fix will include this feature and any other new feature as well or not.
